Getting a Watchable Clip Under 10 MB
Trim before you compress
10 MB has to stretch across the whole clip, so length is the enemy. Fifteen seconds at 10 MB looks fine; three minutes at 10 MB does not. Cut to the part that matters first.
Drop to 480p for anything long
At a fixed file size, fewer pixels means more bits for each one. A sharp 480p clip beats a smeared 1080p one, and on Discord's inline player most people won't notice.
Check where you're posting
Boosted servers raise the limit for everyone in them — Level 2 gives 50 MB, Level 3 gives 100 MB. If your server is boosted, you have far more room than 10 MB.
Leave headroom
This tool aims a little under the ceiling on purpose. A file sitting at exactly 10.0 MB can still be refused, because the limit applies to the whole upload rather than the video stream alone.
